What is LightningVolt™
LightningVolt™ lithium batteries are a high-performance upgrade for the house battery bank that powers your truck’s electric APU. LightningVolt™ improves electric APU performance, doubling the power in your sleeper cab! These 100AH deep-cycle lithium batteries are engineered for commercial trucks and buses, but are Group 31 size, making them a good upgrade for RVs, golf carts and marine applications as well.

For long-haul truckers who are on the road up to 300 days a year (that’s over 80% of each year!), a truck sleeper cab is a home—just one with serious power restrictions. A sleeper cab running on an electric APU usually has 4–6 hours of power if you only use small electronics and an HVAC system. This means avoiding big kitchen appliances, holding back on entertainment like a TV or games console, and rationing battery consumption so the heating or AC can keep the sleeper cab livable. The alternative is to idle your engine and burn more fuel.

Built for Repeated Deep Discharge
Using more than 50% of the stored power in a standard lead-acid battery just once, will damage it. However, LightningVolt™ features LFP battery technology that can withstand deep discharges to as low as 95% over and over again. This means you can take advantage of 2× longer battery runtimes, increasing capacity for your electrical appliances.
What this means for you?
Because so much more of the power in LightningVolt™ batteries is usable, you can run your electric APU on them for 2× longer between charges and can power more energy-hungry appliances. This is a significant improvement on the runtime an electric APU can pull from lead-acid and AGM batteries. With LightningVolt’s rapid charging feature, your alternator can fully charge the batteries faster, so you can spend less time idling and save fuel.
More Charge Cycles
LightningVolt™ batteries have many more charge cycles, meaning they last 10× longer! A traditional AGM battery can handle 200–400 charge cycles, and usually needs replacing every 1–2 years. A LightningVolt™ battery can handle 2,000 charge cycles at 95% depth of discharge and over 4,000 cycles at 50% depth of discharge. This means that depending on use, LightningVolt™ batteries can last 5–10 years (at minimum, twice as long as traditional alternatives).
What this means for you?
APU batteries are designed to be rechargeable, but there is a limit to how many times a battery can be recharged—this is a charge cycle. With so many more charge cycles, durable LightningVolt™ batteries last 10× longer. 1 LightningVolt™ battery can save you from replacing 10 traditional AGM batteries!
Idle Reduction Technology
By doubling the power in your sleeper cab, LightningVolt™ batteries can eliminate the need for idling, which reduces fuel costs while preserving the engine and aftertreatment system. Modern trucks with aftertreatment systems, built in line with EPA regulations, are not designed to handle extended low-duty cycles; this is especially true of idling, which is the lowest duty cycle. Idling can cause carbon to build up in the aftertreatment system, leading to clogging, and either more frequent services, or damage to your engine if the blockages aren’t treated.

LightningVolt™ eliminates your idle times, protecting your engine and making your DPF less likely to become clogged with soot. This means fewer active and forced regens, and less unscheduled downtime for engine and aftertreatment maintenance, not to mention how much you’ll save in fuel costs!
